Let’s Stock the Shelves at Giving Grace!
This year, the Mad Ave Derby’s proceeds are supporting Remerge’s Giving Grace program’s efforts to fight hunger in Decatur, and we wanted to kick our efforts up a notch by providing a family-friendly opportunity on Derby Day to “stock the shelves” at Giving Grace. And for every donation made, a Mad Ave Derby sticker will be our “thank you!”
Many of Giving Grace’s participants are moving into safe and healthy spaces for the first time in a long time, and they need a helping hand with stocking their shelves. We are asking that Derby Day participants and the community-at-large bring the following non-perishable items to Remerge’s tent on Derby Day, October 12, 2024:
-
Peanut butter and Jelly
-
Granola Bars
-
Applesauce
-
Whole Grain Cereal
-
Kids’ Lunch Snacks (chips, applesauce, etc)
-
Canned soup
-
Canned fruit
-
Canned vegetables
-
Canned fish
-
Crackers
-
Canned beans
-
Pasta & Spaghetti Sauce
-
Rice
-
Shelf-Stable and Powdered Milk
-
Canola Oil or Olive Oil
-
Ground Coffee
-
Tea Bags
-
Sugar
-

-
Cake Mix and Frosting (for a child’s birthday)
-
Dishwashing Soap
-
Feminine Hygiene Products
-

All items must be unopened, not expired, and in non-breakable containers. If you would like to donate items before Derby Day, there will be bins at the following addresses, starting on October 1st:

253 Madison Ave
Thank you so much for supporting the Mad Ave Derby’s efforts to support our neighbors and alleviate hunger within our local communities!

Other Ways to Help
In addition to our food drive, we have other exciting ways to help out at the Derby this year:
